Husband Shoots Wife in Head on Christmas Day

SIDNEY, Shelby County —

UPDATE @ 8:45 p.m.:

A man is jailed, accused of shooting his wife in the head on Christmas Day at their home in Sidney.

Samantha Blandzinski, 23, suffered an apparent gunshot wound to her head in an incident reported at 3:21 p.m. Thursday at her home in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue, according to a news release from the Sidney Police Department.

Blandzinski was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital, then transferred by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The hospital is not releasing any information about her condition.

Brandon T. Blandzinski, 29, was arrested at 7 p.m. and booked into the Shelby County Jail on suspicion of one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony. He is being held in lieu of cash-only bond of $15,000 and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning, online jail records show. Further charges against Blandzinski are under review by the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office, the release stated.

Police executed a search warrant at the home, and recovered several items relating to the shooting incident, according to the release.

Police and medics responded around 3:22 p.m. to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue on a report of a gun shot.

The shooting victim’s name and extent of injuries was not reported.
