Michigan Dismiss a Player Accused of Domestic Violence

Michigan dismissed Frank Clark from the team after his arrest over the weekend on a domestic violence charge and assault.

“Frank Clark has been dismissed for violating team rules from the Michigan football program,” Coach Brady Hoke said. “This is a tragic situation. Our student-athletes will be held accountable when their actions fail to meet the standard we have at Michigan. There is a legal process that will occur and we respect that process.”

Clark allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face, threw her to the ground and pinned her down on a bed during a fight in the Maui Sands Resort and Indoor WaterPark in Sandusky, Ohio. Clark, who is from Cleveland, was held in Erie County Jail over the weekend and is awaiting a hearing. The Wolverines did not have a game this weekend and Clark and his girlfriend were at the hotel with her family.

Clark denied striking his girlfriend, according to police reports, but the hotel room was disheveled, with two broken lamps. Clark was bleeding and intoxicated, police said. The alleged victim told police she got free by biting his nose and two members of her family family who were in the room told police that they thought Clark was going to kill her.

Two years ago, the senior defensive end was arrested for stealing laptop from a dorm room. He pleaded guilty to felony second-degree home invasion and was suspended from the home opener.
